Giinagay (Hello)

The Unkya Local Aboriginal Lands Council (LALC) was established during 1983/1984, under the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ALRA) 1982, by a group of local Aboriginal people, including local Aboriginal Elders.

The Unkya LALC was established to develop educational, training, employment, housing and other community capacity building opportunities for local Aboriginal People. The Unkya LALC Cultural Eco  Tourism project is a Social Enterprise implemented by the Unkya LALC in accordance with the Unkya LALC’s Approved Community Land and Business Plan.

  • The Unkya LALC is a Joint Owner (in Fee Simple Terms/Freehold Title) in Common of Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park, with Nambucca Heads LALC;
  • Signature to the Part 4A Lease over Gaagal Wanggaan;
  • Unkya LALC is committed to Maintaining and Protecting Gumbaynggirr Cultural Heritage, through community development, partnerships, employment and social enterprise;
  • The Cultural Eco Tours are Aboriginal Owned and Operated by the Unkya LALC;
